The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore (ACRA) recently commenced its public consultation in respect of the Report of the Companies Act Working Group (CAWG), which made several key recommendations for change with potentially wide-ranging implications, as well as other changes proposed by ACRA.
In view of the various changes, WongPartnership hosted a webinar where our Corporate Governance & Compliance Practice Joint Head and Senior Consultant Annabelle Yip and Deputy Head Kevin Ho along with Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Partners Chan Sing Yee and Quak Fi Ling shared their views on the proposed changes spanning digitalisation, types of companies and financial reporting, safeguarding shareholders’ interests, share capital and financial assistance, amongst others. Our Managing Partner Ng Wai King (who was a member of the CAWG) delivered the opening remarks and provided an overview on the key changes of the Companies’ Act over the years.
