Singapore, 6 April 2020 – The Prime Minister's Office, Singapore, has today announced the appointment of our Partner and Head of Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Andre Maniam, S.C., as Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Singapore with effect from 4 May 2020.

Andre graduated from the National University of Singapore with the Adrian Clark Memorial Medal for being the top student in his year. He became a Justices' Law Clerk in the Supreme Court following graduation, the first batch to be so admitted, and subsequently entered private practice. Andre joined the firm in April 1996 and has been the Head of our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group since 2006. In January 2010, Andre was appointed Senior Counsel. He is one of 4 Senior Counsel in WongPartnership LLP.

Andre's main areas of practice involve litigation and arbitration across a wide range of matters including commercial and corporate disputes, cross-border trade, insolvency, and construction. His matters include representation of the former finance manager of City Harvest Church in court proceedings, and the COI into the SingHealth cyber-attack.

Under Andre's stewardship, our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group has grown from strength to strength, achieving top rankings in commercial litigation, construction disputes, restructuring and insolvency and international arbitration in various leading legal publications such as Legal 500 and Chambers. As a senior member of the bar, Andre has also mentored and provided guidance to many of his younger colleagues who have gone on to become Partners of the firm and market leaders in their own right.
