Evan ONG is a Partner in the Private Wealth Practice.

Evan assists high-net-worth clients on a wide range of wealth management and succession planning matters, which include asset protection, business continuity, estate matters, and the creation of trusts and family offices. Additionally, Evan works closely with financial institutions and professional trustees, and advises on various aspects of trusts, charitable and philanthropic giving, and compliance and regulatory issues.

As part of his philanthropy practice, Evan advises clients on the structuring and restructuring of charitable and non-profit organisations, including donor-advised funds, as well as governance and regulatory requirements.
 

Matters of significance which Evan has been involved in include advising / acting for the following:

  • A prominent Singapore company on the restructuring of its philanthropic platform, as well as on various philanthropic initiatives and partnerships focused on delivering long-term impact, enhancing community development, and fostering social capital across Singapore, Asia, and beyond.
  • A philanthropic platform with the development and implementation of an initiative dedicated to catalysing collaborative philanthropy through multi-sector partnerships across the public, private, and philanthropic sectors.
  • An ultra-high net worth individual on the application for Singapore permanent residence under the Global Investor Programme (GIP), and the legal, regulatory, and tax issues in respect of the set-up of a single-family office in Singapore, which include working with the client's advisors on professionalising the client's family office operations.
  • An ultra-high-net-worth family on their wealth management and succession planning, and the reorganisation of their business structure, taking into account the commercial and business risks of the family's underlying operating businesses and investments.
  • Several philanthropic vehicles of international banks on the structuring and/or restructuring of their donor-advised funds in Singapore.
  • Various charities and philanthropic vehicles on the establishment and/or restructuring of their platforms, and governance and regulatory issues.
