LIM Wei Lee is the Deputy Head of the firm's Banking & Financial Disputes Practice and a Partner in the International Arbitration Practice.
Her main areas of practice involve litigation and arbitration across a wide range of matters including commercial, corporate, and banking disputes, fraud, cross-border trade and investment disputes, insolvency, and judicial review. In addition to an active court practice as counsel in the High Court and Court of Appeal, Wei Lee has acted as counsel in arbitrations conducted under various leading arbitral rules (e.g. SIAC, ICC, UNCITRAL, AIAC, LCIA). Wei Lee also sits as arbitrator, both as party-appointed co-arbitrator and through appointments by arbitral institutions (as designated appointing authority).
Wei Lee is a Council member of the International Chamber of Commerce Institute of World Business Law, and serves as a member of the Advisory Committee of The Law Society of Singapore's Professional Conduct Council.
Wei Lee graduated from the National University of Singapore. She also holds a European Masters in Law and Economics, graduating summa cum laude. She is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
Matters of significance in which Wei Lee has been involved in include the following:
- Acting for a BVI fund in the arbitration of a dispute over a joint venture for the development and operation of various toll way projects in the Philippines and involving claims in excess of US$600 million.
- Acting for the Astro media group in an international arbitration concerning a proposed joint venture for satellite pay TV services in Indonesia, the enforcement of the awards for US$250 million from that arbitration have given rise to novel and complex issues in various jurisdictions.
- Acting for a global financial brokerage business in an investigation and related action arising from a potential fraud of over $300 million in commodities financing.
- Acting for various institutions in investigations and litigation arising from allegations of fraud and corruption in transactions involving the Malaysian-government investment fund known as 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
- Acting for the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health Holdings in the Committee of Inquiry proceedings arising from the largest cyber-attack in Singapore.
- Acting for Takashimaya Singapore Ltd., which operates the iconic Takashimaya Department Store in Singapore's Orchard Road shopping district, in its rental review dispute.
