Samuel YAP is a Partner in the Commercial & Corporate Disputes Practice.
His main areas of practice include corporate and regulatory investigations, employment, regulatory and criminal disputes (including workplace safety and health matters), litigation and arbitration involving commercial and corporate disputes. He has advised clients of various profiles, including Singapore-listed entities, international banks and financial services providers.
Prior to joining the firm, Samuel was a Deputy Public Prosecutor and State Counsel in the Attorney-General’s Chambers, where he was involved in criminal prosecutions and appeals at all levels of the Singapore Courts on a wide range of offences.
Samuel graduated from the Singapore Management University, where he was part of the winning team of the International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition and LAWASIA International Moot Competition. Samuel was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2016.

Commercial, Regulatory and Criminal Disputes
- A regulated financial services provider based in the United Kingdom in a dispute against two Singapore entities concerning cross-border payment services involving more than US$40 million, and successfully obtained a worldwide freezing order in respect of the assets of one of the entities, and committal orders against two respondents for failing to comply with Court orders.
- A leading public transport operator in Singapore, in relation to a charge brought by the Prosecution following a workplace safety incident involving a six-member engineering and maintenance team. The firm successfully negotiated with the Prosecution for a removal of certain aspects of the charge, and persuaded the court to impose a fine that was substantially lower than the fine quantum sought by the Prosecution.
- A Singapore company formerly listed on the SGX-ST Mainboard, in responding to regulatory enquiries by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) of Singapore in relation to the accuracy of the company’s financial statements, and obtained a favourable outcome for the client.
- An SGX-listed company in complex regulatory investigations involving the operations of its overseas operational entities in an African nation, working together with forensic accountants both in Singapore and overseas.
- An entity in the medical industry in a fact-finding investigation into the conduct of key management personnel to identify any potential wrongdoing that may give rise to any criminal offences (including breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, conflict of interests), regulatory issues and/or civil causes of action, working together with forensic accountants.
- Advising a leading multinational real estate and property management company that develops, owns, and manages properties across the globe on drafting workplace safety & health documents to ensure compliance with the Workplace Safety & Health Code of Practice and/or other related prevailing policies, as well as presenting to the board of directors on relevant workplace safety and health legislation and interplay with the Code of Practice.
